I provide private in-home or in-studio piano instruction in Lynchburg, Virginia; I am passionate about guiding students from the basics to advanced levels of mastery. My pedagogical approach centers on jazz and blues with a strong emphasis on improvisation, theory, and harmonization.

     My curriculum is meticulously crafted to build a strong foundation. Students engage with essential piano skills, ensuring a thorough grasp of music notation, rhythm, aural skills, scales, harmony, and technique. This foundational work paves the way for their musical journey ahead.

 

      My own musical education spans more than twelve years of classical piano training, enriched further by a sixteen-year period of studying Jazz harmony and improvisation under professional teachers. This advanced instruction has not only honed my performance skills but also deeply informed my teaching methodologies.

 

      Performance-wise, I have a vibrant history of jazz solo and group work. I've had the privilege of sharing music through recitals, church services, festive parties, and a variety of other events.

 

     My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that music is a language of the soul, and through the piano, students can learn to speak it fluently—with spontaneity, with expressiveness, and with joy.
