What type of lessons are offered

I provide private in-home or in-studio piano instruction in Lynchburg, Virginia; I am passionate about guiding students from the basics to advanced levels of mastery. My pedagogical approach centers on jazz and blues with a strong emphasis on improvisation, theory, and harmonization. I focus on ear training and learning how to condense songs into short-hand harmonic notation. See sample lead sheet here. 

When are lessons offered

I offer lessons Monday through Saturday at time that is most convenient for the student. 

How often are lessons

Lessons are offered once a week on a 10-week semester basis for either a half-hour or hour. 

What songs do students learn

I cover songs that are interesting or engaging to the student. On occasion, we will study specific jazz standards or songs as they are imperative to learning the concepts being taught for that semester.

What curriculum is used

I write my own curriculum and tailor it to the level and needs of the student. 

What if I miss a lesson

Please give a 24-hour notice to cancel a lesson. We will schedule another time to make up the lesson or extend the next lesson to cover the missed lesson.
